So Mya is supposed to be on the next Dancing With The Stars. Naturally a new video of hers drops so I am assuming she is using this as her platform to come back out and not make a transition to something else in life, like full time actress or something. I'm posting the video below and its not a bad song. The only thing I am wondering is who is picking Mya's beats??? The song (and video) remind me of Destiny Child's Soldier. Similar concepts in the song and the video. But this song is definitely not going to get the love DC got, and its really just a matter of the beat in my opinion.

So the Run This Town video leaked, aired early in Germany, whatever, here it is for your enjoyment below. Personally its just ok t me. The way it was hyped you thought it was the second coming of the Hate Me Now video or something. I find it weird that there is no one from the Roc in this except 'Ye. Who would have guessed that the dude with pink polos and a teddy bear would be the future of the R-O-C. I mean Jay could at least give Bleek a cameo somewhere. But I guess he's on in his will somewhere

Who Did It Better?

I decided to post 2 video clips of remakes of some of our favorite hip hop songs. The Fray takes on Kanye's Heartless. And Framing Hanley takes on Wayne's Lollipop (pause). The Fray version is growing on me while I've been a fan of the Framing Hanley track for awhile. Overall I think both groups did justice to the songs. I don't think rappers could do the same to their songs though. Thoughts?

What Does It All Mean?

So yesterday, black sports fan got their wish. Michael Vick signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. I for one was happy. It was good to see someone who I think got a bad rap, serve his time and at least be able to make a comeback. Going beyond that, I think as an African American community, we need to thank Commissioner Goodell for the message he is sending. Most fans say Goodell is a prick and handing out harsh punishments, such as Vick's suspension from the league, Pacman Jone's suspension from the league, and most recently Dante Stallworth's one year suspension. And yes I agree to an extent, the rulings were harsh. But today, I sort of understand them.

Let's look at Vick. I understand the severity of his case. I understand we cannot be cruel to animals. But Vick kills some dogs (not trying to downplay his case) and gets 2 years, where as Stallworth kills a man and only does 2 months in jail??? So now the lives of our house pets are more significant than humans? How could we allow a murderer to play football, and not a man who served his time and lost just about everything he had, over mistreating some dogs? It just didn't seem right. A family lost a member. A provider, a son, and a father. Not just someone who would play fetch and get the paper.

To me, Vick's reinstatement teaches young incarcerated men that there is a possiblity of coming out of jail and being a contributing part of society. Yes Vick is a special situation, but that does not take away from the possibility that anyone can be more than just a statistic after conviction.

In the case of Stallworth, his suspension teaches young aspiring NFL athletes that the NFL is serious about upholding its image. It will not be a league of thugs, hoodlums, and convicts.

Last week Jigga man dropped his newest single from BP3, We Run This Town, featuring Rihanna and Kanye. Now the track has grown on me, but talking with some people, 1 thing is apparent. Little Brother stole the show. If you remember on Big Brother (the track), Ye said, "On the diamonds remix I thought I spazzed, then big brother came through and whopped my ass". It was true, Jay got him on that track. But on this one, looks like payback is a mofo. As Jay can only boast "This is roc nation/pledge yo alle-giance/get yo fatigues on/all black everything/black cards, black cars/all black everything", while Ye hits back with "she got an ass that will swallow up a g-string/ and on top....2 bee stings/and im beasting/off the riesling/am my niggas just made it out the precint.../i'm just tryin to change the color on your moodring"

Now argue all you want, but Ye spazzed. Now my question is, when will Jay give Ye the keys to the Roc. Bleek was always the holder of the Roc's future, but when was the last time you heard from Bleek? When was the last time you seen Bleek? And with Rocafella all but gone, does Ye even need permission anymore from Big Brother?

Greatest Athlete

Whenever the discussion of greatest athlete comes up its always the same names: Muhammed Ali, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, etc. Lance Armstrong never seems to get brought up. Now I pretty much blame this on the lack of popularity of the sport of cycling in America (cycling is the second most popular sport in the world, behind soccer. yes folks basketball and american football arent the end all be all sports of the world). Now I insist that anyone that calls themselves a sports fan begin to consider Lance Armstrong as the greatest athlete ever. Lance won the Tour de France, one of the hardest 3 week sporting events in the world, for 7 years straight. And he did so after battling testicular cancer. Now as of Sunday, he placed 3rd in the Tour de France. Naturally you will say oh thats not good. But that is with a 4 YEAR HIATUS from the sport. Did Jordan even make it to the playoffs when he came back wearing the 4-5?

Now some will say oh Lance was on drugs. Lance is the most tested athlete in the world when it comes to in and out of competition for performance enhancing drugs. They would have caught him by now. And some will say oh well Lance just did it for himself. Nope. It's a proven fact when Lance is competitive the amount of attention and financial donations to cancer research goes up exponentially. So much that Lance is auctioning off just about every bike he rode during this years tour. Some of them which were custom painted just for specific days. Not only that but he has a shoe deal with NIKE that produced a Livestrong custom shoe line this year that will see the profits go to cancer research as well.

Now those that know me know I have been an active cyclist since I was about 13. It is not an easy sport at all. Of course people laugh because of the tight uniforms, or say it can't be that hard because everyone rides bikes. Well when you can start riding 100 miles a day, and then do it for 3 weeks straight, through anything mother nature throws at you, then throw in the Pyrenees Mountains and the Alps, and still survive...then maybe you can laugh at the sport. Until then I think we need to put Lance on the podium for greatest athlete.

I Must Be Losing My Mind

So I just woke up (yeah at close to 11am, don't judge me) and I had to write down this crazy dream I had. I forgot the beginning, but at the end I was on some sort of spaceship that was on a railroad track. Now the ship was trying to get away from some fighter jets. But for some reason Drake was a pilot of one the fighter jets and was trying to shoot down the ship. He fired at us, missed, and turned around to come back for a second run. Now for some reason our ship was supposed to be going to Canada (maybe thats why Drake was trying to stop us). As we approach Canada for some reason the ship stops, like its a regular train. Who hops on? Kanye. Now somehow I missed the fact that Soulja Boy was on the ship already and he just somehow appeared once Kanye was on the ship. After that ship decided to go backwards and got stuck. When it got stuck regular people started to come on the ship. The driver kept trying to kick them off but they wouldn't listen.

Thats when I woke up. Anyone know what this dream meant????

At my old job, I would get off at about 5am and head right to McDonald's at least 3 times a week. A steak egg and cheese bagel, plus a sausage egg and cheese mcmuffin, with the hashbrown and OJ to finish it off. Now I quickly realized this was not healthy and I wasn't 21 anymore. Cant just burn that off so easily. So I went on a McDs hiatus and I did well. Went about 2 months without any. Now, I have relocated and of course, there is a McDonalds right around the corner from my apartment that is 24 hours. And naturally there are 2 within 2 blocks of my job. Somehow McDonalds and I have started an affair again and that led me to write The Top Ten Reasons Why McDonalds Is The Best Jumpoff In The World !!!. Please see the points below

The One

We got the new video from Slaughterhouse up today. If you don't know about Slaughterhouse, right now its the biggest hip hop group out right. Group being an actual group, not just a crew, ie Rocafella, Young Money, etc. Slaughterhouse is comprised of Joe Buddens, Royece da 5'9", Crooked I, and Joell Ortiz. If you don't know those guys, just cut yourself a little bit. I like the video for because it blends rock well with hip hop. I also like the fact Joey keeps puttin his girl in his music videos. Not because shes quite attractive but because it means that all of their digital efforts don't put a strain on their relationship and its a sign that with all this technology, technology can be used positively in relationships, and not just to text your jumpoff at 2am in the morning.

MJ...The Savior

It's wednesday, so that means soundscan will come out today. Now MJ sold ridiculous numbers last week, and I am sure he will continue to top seller this week. Honestly, every record label will probably owe MJ for helping sales. Even if he isnt on every label. It's kind of hard not to go buy one cd and not pick up an extra. Or to go to iTunes and download one album and not just decide to get another. Personally, I think everyone will continue to celebrate MJ for quite sometime. While it will be bitter sweet to hear your favorite DJ spin Michael Jackson records when you go out, just think about all the joy and memories hearing those sets will bring back for you. As a DJ, I haven't played an MJ record since he passed. I've watched videos, listened to other DJ's tribute mixes, and watched every show most have. Yet, I know at my gig in a month, I will throw on some MJ and I can honestly say I might cry for the fact I am priviliged enough to channel the joy that Michael brings for people on the dance floor.

VIBE mag officially folded 2 days ago, reasons are still TBD, but you can guess why. Now I think we might officially be seeing the death of MTV. 50 Cent and Drake both dropped their new videos online last night. No leak, no random clips. The official premieres were online . So why do we need MTV again? We're already ready to throw BET down the drain, lets just kill 2 birds with one stone. No?

On a side note, neither video makes any sense to the song. Look for some bit of humor in Drakes at 4:25. Besides that, its a video most guys will watch on mute and most women will find offensive. Hip hop at its best.

I took friday off from blogging. Not because I thought it was appropriate to take a day off to mourn Michael Jackson. Not because I was lazy. Breaking News

I had to take a day off from the Top Ten for a small reason folks, bear with me.....

So unless you been under a rock today, you have heard that Shaq has been traded to the Cavaliers. Now most of us heard that this was possible but did not expect it. I for one did not want to see it happen. Granted there aren't a lot of of big men (pause) in the NBA, to take one of the oldest ones just did not seem to make sense for the Cavs. But, the Cavs showed their biggest weakness (in my opinion) is having no real center or big man to handle the likes of Dwight Howard down low. Now my question is, if the Cavs win the ring next year, is it going to be another "Oh Shaq won the ring" situation. Everyone began to say that LA's 3 year run was all Shaq and nothing to do with Kobe. Then they said that Heat won because of Shaq and nothing to do with D Wade. Now there is NO WAY you can say that it's all Shaq not Lebron, thats impossible. RIght? Now if thats the case, can we go back and argue that it wasn't Shaq that it was actually Kobe and Wade. Kobe has won a ring without Shaq now, but that still hasn't put the haters to rest (no I am not a Kobe stan). What are your thoughts?

T-Pain. First He Was The Biggest Coon. Now The Biggest Sell Out

Many people called T-Pain a coon for some of his songs and autotuning. Then they sang his praises. But now, I have to think we have to consider him for the biggest sell out award. He did a song with Taylor Swift, which would seem like a great thing in terms of his acceptance in music genres. Unfortunately the song is wack. Taylor decides she wants to be a rapper. A singer turned rapper as she says. And for some reason, I feel like T-Pain wrote her 16. Even the lines about being a gangster that bakes caramel delites. At first the video was humorous. But now, I just hate the fact it exists.

Took friday off, so I'm making it up today. Tonight Kobe and the Lakers look to close out on their ring against the Magic. Now I wanted to see the Kobe Lebron matchup just like anyone else. With Lebron at home I'm supporting Kobe. I'm not a fan or a stan, I am a SUPPORTER. With that said, I wanted to put everyone up on a new artist I heard about named XV. He did a promo video for the Magic for his song "Now Look". Unfortunately the promo didn't make it to TV, but I found it online. All you Magic fans enjoy it for the video. Everyone else, feel special that you have heard about this kid before he blows up

Top Ten Average

10) Today I sent out a group email and included myself in the "Sent to" list. I sent it, and one second later got an alert saying I had a new email. I was excited for a moment, and then remembered it was the one I had sent to myself. MLIA

9) Today, I took a quiz on where I should really live, I got Virginia. I live in Virginia

8) Today I took a test on a scantron sheet. After I finished, I checked to see if the dots that I filled in made a picture or word. They didn't.

7) My Costco card has been expired for five years. I still flash it to the people at the door so I can go in and eat free samples

6) Today this girl I like greeted me by touching my arm as she walked past. I flexed a little in hopes that she would ask if I had been working out. She didn't.

5) Today I went to the bathroom. The toilet was automatic so it was supposed to flush itself but it didn't. I re-enacted getting up from the toilet seat again to get it to flush itself.

4) Today I had to ask my brother a question. He was in the room next to me. Instead of getting up and asking I sent a facebook message

3) Today, I was pulling out of a parking lot and saw a van about to back up into me. Instead of honking my horn, I just yelled NOOO! They saw me.

2) Today, I drove to the McDonalds in the next town because I went to the McDonalds in my town yesterday and I was afraid the people at the drive-thru would recognize and judge me.

1) Today, my family had Chinese food. But since we're Chinese, we just call it food

Well, the Death of Autotune tracks have started to pop off. Young Trey Songz decides to rip it (eh.) and go at the one and only Kelz. Its an ok diss, I'm just glad someone finally went at Kelz. and he clowns him too. Check it

The Good Ol' Days

A few years back, when I was in highschool, I knew there only 3 music crews I would EVER want to be a part of. Ruff Ryders, Shady Aftermath, and Rocafella. The Double R pretty much dismantled. Shady Aftermath is making a comeback of sorts. Rocafella is now Roc Nation and looks NOTHING like what I remembered. With that said, some videos of the classic R.O.C. surfaced this past week and it brought memories of the Roc of past. Watch the clips and see what used to be the best in hip hop. They were unstoppable every summer. Now summer belongs to....thats TBD. Its da roc you bastards!

Where he at...

Awhile back there was a track with an infectious sample of Dawn Penn's no no no that Scram Jones flipped to spawn what looked to be a promising career of rapper Jae Millz. Then he seemed to be poised for greatness after he battled E.Ness from MTV's Making The Band. Now Millz was on the national scene. But a screwed up record deal left Millz on the shelf. Until the great one, Lil' Wayne saw him on tv and with the flick of his iced up wrist, Millz is now part of Young Money Cash Money. While he'll probably play 2nd lieutenant to Drizzy Drake Rogers, Wayne clearly has some faith in him, putting him on the Every Girl track. Below, lets look at the development of Millz's career and hopefully we'll keep adding more to it.

The internet, twitter, bloggers, DJs, doctors, politicians, and etc are buzzing because of Jay-Z's new track , Death of Autotune. Now initially I was not going to comment about it. But since there is so much "hype" around it, I am taking my day off to write about it.

Now personally, I don't think the track is that great. I really haven't enjoyed any of the stuff supposedly on Blueprint 3. Its too American Gangster like, and I feel Jay is reaching for his Reasonable Doubt feeling. And naturally we all want another Reasonable Doubt, but Jay's days of being able to relate to that are gone. Now everyone is saying that Jay needs to give it up because he has nothing left to talk about. To those haters I say, have you stopped listening to Wayne talking about syrup? Jeezy about trapping? TI about rubberbands? Drake about women?? Ok, I didn't think so. Jay's age does not take away from his life experience he puts in his music. Nor has the culture from which he came changed THAT much. Marcy is still Marcy. Jay is still the best (notice I say best, not greatest. See my previous post about Renegades to see why I personally don't give him the crown).

Now to comment on the "death of autotune" Yes, we all hated it[autotune] at first, and yes we all grew to accept it and like it. And do not go around now saying Jigga is dissing Pain, Wayne and Kanye. If you listen to his interview with Flex and Cee, he commends them for its use. And he def aint going to hate on Drake for using it seeing as Drake will probably be the only rookie on the Blueprint 3. Jay is just saying its not for everyone. Just like he said his path and lifestyle was not for everyone. Now I don't expect T-Pain to come out and try to Ether Jay. We don't want to see a T-Pain Jay-Z battle. And none of the major artists that use autotune will dream of going at Hov. But realize now that if anyone else besides those 3 Jay has said are good at it, they will be clowned

Also, people are saying Jay is going at hipsters. He went at them like Swagger Like Us. Jadakiss has gone at them. Styles has gone at them. He's just sayin thats not his idea of hip hop. Thats all the song is. Jay saying, look this is not my hip hop, this is how it was and should be. Just like people said hey I don't like gangsta rap its trash. It's no Kurtis Blow or Sugarhill gang. And we see where NWA is in the history books.

This post went longer than I expected, but all these Jay-Z DOA haters and stans are killing me. Take the song for what it is. Jay-Z's reflection on the state of hip hop and what he sees it for. It's not a diss track. It's not about to start a war in hip hop between hipsters, autotuners, and everyone else. As Jay said, "It's only music."

Renegade 2?

So apparently Jigga man and Marshall teamed up to perform for a party for DJ Here (No I am not looking forward to that game). I got the clip below. My hope is that maybe...just maybe, Jay will man up and do a Renegade 2. In my eyes, until Jay does a part 2 he fears Eminem's lyrical skills. We all know Em ripped Renegade and Jay has done a song with everyone and their mom since then, but never another with Em. Now that Em moved 600k his first week, maybe Jay will reconsider

So I been hearing about 2 new girl groups, Elektrik Redd?? and Rich Girl. I had seen and heard Redd before (wasn't impressed lyrically. They better off shooting magazine covers) but I never heard Rich Girl. Until a few days ago I came across their video on Fader.com I'm posting it below, but to me it reminds me of the debut of another 4 female deep group not too long ago. What do yall think?

De de de de damn

I always been a fan of F-A-B-O, ever since his first album Ghetto Fabolous. He's putting out good albums that have been very underrated (except maybe Street Dreams, I wasn't a fan of that). His album is the only other one I'm looking forward to for this summer. Loso's way should be dropping sometime soon. Here we got his new video with The Dream, Throw It In The Bag (also starring Claudia Jordan, my favorite Deal or No Deal girl turned Celebrity Apprentice contestant). I'm also throwing in the video for It's My Time. I like how he took a music video and turned it into a movie preview for his album. Don't know how I feel about the "Throw It In The Bag Dance" though. Don't be afraid

Kanye's video for Paranoid dropped. I saw the leaked version last week and wasn't too impressed. Minus Rihanna as the lead girl and in a lot of lingerie, video is just Kanye trying to be over dramatic and treat his video like a hitchcock movie. Even the lingerie of Rihanna is a little blah considering we all seen her ta ta's a few weeks ago. I don't think theres any more videos coming from 808s so maybe that means we'll get a Kanye tour or a new album soon

When it making it rain goes wrong

So Drake's on his mini tour. He just wrapped up shows in DC, then Chicago, then he's in NY next week. I've watched clips from his shows (posted below) and I notice his stage presence is a little awkward, yet it reminiscent of someone but I couldn't quite put my finger on it (pause). After watching the Chicago performance I figured it out.....Kanye. Now watch the clips and notice Drakes right hand. It never really does anything. He never really switches hands for the mic. It looks like he expects his right hand to help him fly off stage. Then watch Yeezy and you'll notice he almost does the same thing. Is Kanye Drake's unofficial mentor? Or did he just watch a lot of Kanye performances? Either way, someone should tell Drake they shoot in Chicago. Fight breaks out you leave, f another song.

The NBA and Nike are banking on this being the finals match up. I wonder if its not if we get a Lebron and Melo puppet commercial...who knows

A few months ago an old coworker sent me a link for a song on youtube called "Whooty", referring to white girls with booty.(real creative I know).

Apparently, in Stanky Legg fashion, the guys got a record deal and now have a full fledged video (I suggest you youtube the original stanky legg video and original whooty video, to at least feel good about yourself in life).

Now before you watch the video I have 2 questions...
1)are white girls with a big booty no longer a phenomenon, and just a norm?
2)dont half of the "white" girls in this video look either really light skin black or hispanic? You decide

Who let the dog out

DMX was released from jail yesterday. In honor of Dog Man X's release, posting some of my favorite DMX videos. His first album was by far the best. Don't know what happened. Damien was definitely my favorite song off of that album. I'll probably watch one of my favorite movies, Belly, in his honor today.

Dear Summer....

Sorry folks, I took yesterday off. I'm a slacker I know. I apologize. I probably lost half of my daily viewers so make sure you tell at least two people about my blog so I can get some folks back.

Today we're going to do the Top 10 Things I Hate About Summer. I know what you're saying, "Its summer, the best time of the year. You can't hate." Well shut up and read...

10.) Extreme heat. Theres a point where its just too hot. Thats when you sit in the house with the corona and make your own corona commercial.

9.) Women who wear short shorts and shouldn't. Don't mean to be an ass...but some of yall don't need to show your ass. Literally and figuratively.

8.) Baseball. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan. I'm a bandwagon-er. Go Marlins. But don't ask me to come to the game and hang out. I'll go to the bar with you though

7.) Rain on BBQs. Just a lose lose situation. BBQs need sun. Can't have em in the rain. And its the biggest let down when you plan to hit the BBQ and then it just rains on your ribs/hamburger/potato salad parade.

6.) Wack songs. Every since Jay retired everyone keeps trying to have that song for the summer. In their haste they release wack songs. Like Jay said, "You can't force the music"

5.) Summer school. Granted I never went against my own free will, I feel bad for all the kids that have to. As if school during the year wasn't depressing enough.

4.) Fake azz body buidlers. Look, we know you swole. We know you spent nine months in the gym so for 3 months you can walk round in your wife beater making us normal guys look bad. Put on a t-shirt and save that for the beach.

3.) Bugs. Summer brings out the mosquitoes and a variety of random bugs that tend to invade the much needed BBQs.

2.) Beaches in states that are not Florida. I'm sorry, in Chicago, those are not beaches. You have a huge lake. If it ain't ocean it aint a beach. And if it aint Florida, it aint even a beach worth going to.

1.) And the number 1 thing I hate....everyone talking about "get right for the summer". What's so different about summer than the rest of the year? Just because its summer you're allowed to go wild, add another 20 jumpoffs to the list....wait a minute...scratch that...get right for the summer it is.

Its a slow day...so sue me

Well my favorite rapper (yeah I said it!) Drops a new album next week. Naturally it leaked this past weekend but I got enough respect to not download it. One track that is making its way around the net is Bagpipes from Baghdad. I don't get the name....but its Em's track going hard (pause) at Mariah Carey. Naturally Nick Cannon has come to the rescue and plans to release a come back track against Em. At first I was like why Nick why...but then again Nick has no real career to kill so it makes no difference. (Sidebar, I respect Nick Cannon and his hustle, as much as people hate on him. Especially now that he bagged Mariah. He's a hustler and he never claims to be great at anything he does. He just does alot of things to stay marketable.) We'll see what comes of it. I know if Em goes back at Nick/Mariah, he BETTER go at Rick Ross for Ross' dumb diss tracks
