I fail...

So you probably tuned in yesterday for Top Ten Thursday. For some reason I forgot thursday is a day of the week these days and didn't even realize my mistake until this afternoon. I apologize to my viewers.

Somehow I have to get back on track. I think I need an assistant. Any applicants?

Don't be afraid

Kanye's video for Paranoid dropped. I saw the leaked version last week and wasn't too impressed. Minus Rihanna as the lead girl and in a lot of lingerie, video is just Kanye trying to be over dramatic and treat his video like a hitchcock movie. Even the lingerie of Rihanna is a little blah considering we all seen her ta ta's a few weeks ago. I don't think theres any more videos coming from 808s so maybe that means we'll get a Kanye tour or a new album soon

When it making it rain goes wrong

Well some fan thought it was ok to jump on stage and make it rain on Pitbull at a recent show. Let's just say it wasnt a good look for buddy

So Drake's on his mini tour. He just wrapped up shows in DC, then Chicago, then he's in NY next week. I've watched clips from his shows (posted below) and I notice his stage presence is a little awkward, yet it reminiscent of someone but I couldn't quite put my finger on it (pause). After watching the Chicago performance I figured it out.....Kanye. Now watch the clips and notice Drakes right hand. It never really does anything. He never really switches hands for the mic. It looks like he expects his right hand to help him fly off stage. Then watch Yeezy and you'll notice he almost does the same thing. Is Kanye Drake's unofficial mentor? Or did he just watch a lot of Kanye performances? Either way, someone should tell Drake they shoot in Chicago. Fight breaks out you leave, f another song.

Slow blog day...I know I took one day off as it is. Here goes the 2nd commercial from Nike featuring Kobe and Lebron: The Quest for the Ring (I made that title up, its fresh aint it?) The NBA and Nike are banking on this being the finals match up. I wonder if its not if we get a Lebron and Melo puppet commercial...who knows

A few months ago an old coworker sent me a link for a song on youtube called "Whooty", referring to white girls with booty.(real creative I know).

Apparently, in Stanky Legg fashion, the guys got a record deal and now have a full fledged video (I suggest you youtube the original stanky legg video and original whooty video, to at least feel good about yourself in life).

Now before you watch the video I have 2 questions...
1)are white girls with a big booty no longer a phenomenon, and just a norm?
2)dont half of the "white" girls in this video look either really light skin black or hispanic? You decide

Who let the dog out

DMX was released from jail yesterday. In honor of Dog Man X's release, posting some of my favorite DMX videos. His first album was by far the best. Don't know what happened. Damien was definitely my favorite song off of that album. I'll probably watch one of my favorite movies, Belly, in his honor today.

Dear Summer....

Sorry folks, I took yesterday off. I'm a slacker I know. I apologize. I probably lost half of my daily viewers so make sure you tell at least two people about my blog so I can get some folks back.

Today we're going to do the Top 10 Things I Hate About Summer. I know what you're saying, "Its summer, the best time of the year. You can't hate." Well shut up and read...

10.) Extreme heat. Theres a point where its just too hot. Thats when you sit in the house with the corona and make your own corona commercial.

9.) Women who wear short shorts and shouldn't. Don't mean to be an ass...but some of yall don't need to show your ass. Literally and figuratively.

8.) Baseball. Unfortunately, I'm just not a fan. I'm a bandwagon-er. Go Marlins. But don't ask me to come to the game and hang out. I'll go to the bar with you though

7.) Rain on BBQs. Just a lose lose situation. BBQs need sun. Can't have em in the rain. And its the biggest let down when you plan to hit the BBQ and then it just rains on your ribs/hamburger/potato salad parade.

6.) Wack songs. Every since Jay retired everyone keeps trying to have that song for the summer. In their haste they release wack songs. Like Jay said, "You can't force the music"

5.) Summer school. Granted I never went against my own free will, I feel bad for all the kids that have to. As if school during the year wasn't depressing enough.

4.) Fake azz body buidlers. Look, we know you swole. We know you spent nine months in the gym so for 3 months you can walk round in your wife beater making us normal guys look bad. Put on a t-shirt and save that for the beach.

3.) Bugs. Summer brings out the mosquitoes and a variety of random bugs that tend to invade the much needed BBQs.

2.) Beaches in states that are not Florida. I'm sorry, in Chicago, those are not beaches. You have a huge lake. If it ain't ocean it aint a beach. And if it aint Florida, it aint even a beach worth going to.

1.) And the number 1 thing I hate....everyone talking about "get right for the summer". What's so different about summer than the rest of the year? Just because its summer you're allowed to go wild, add another 20 jumpoffs to the list....wait a minute...scratch that...get right for the summer it is.

Its a slow day...so sue me

Well my favorite rapper (yeah I said it!) Drops a new album next week. Naturally it leaked this past weekend but I got enough respect to not download it. One track that is making its way around the net is Bagpipes from Baghdad. I don't get the name....but its Em's track going hard (pause) at Mariah Carey. Naturally Nick Cannon has come to the rescue and plans to release a come back track against Em. At first I was like why Nick why...but then again Nick has no real career to kill so it makes no difference. (Sidebar, I respect Nick Cannon and his hustle, as much as people hate on him. Especially now that he bagged Mariah. He's a hustler and he never claims to be great at anything he does. He just does alot of things to stay marketable.) We'll see what comes of it. I know if Em goes back at Nick/Mariah, he BETTER go at Rick Ross for Ross' dumb diss tracks

Most folk already know about Rafer Alston, better known as Skip to my Lou, smacking Eddie House after House drained a 3 on him in the playoff game the other night. If you havent seen it here is the clip and the interviews of both players








Now these playoffs been extra physical this year and seen some questionable calls in the foul arena...

Now my questions are 1)would Skip have smacked anyone in the And1 games? 2)would House even try to size anyone else in the league, and 3)does the league need an offseason boxing ring for all these guys with too much aggression? Maybe next year they should play the season openers outside on asphalt, sort of like how hockey plays an outside game every year now.

I've never been a huge fan of Lauren London. I did like her in ATL as Nu Nu or however the hood would spell it. She's got a shoot in the new issue of Complex so I'm sharing some of em with you. L might soon be my new favorite letter of the alphabet. Especially after K (Kim, Keisha, and Keri)

Out of nowhere

I was on twitter last night and saw this twitter message from DJ Green Lantern...

rap biz is crazy right now..Drake(no album date in sight) got more buzz than everybody thats droppin albums put 2gether..no shots


Green makes a good point. Drake pretty much came out of nowhere and has the largest buzz of any new artist in awhile. From his role on Degrassi and acting in Canada, he split off to get his music right. And luckily enough his music got into the hands of lil Wayne. Now I mentioned before some attribute Drake's fame to Wayne pushing his name out. That might be true, but look at the other folks on Young Money that don't have nearly as much pub - Mack Maine, Kid Kid, Lil Chuckie, Nicki Minaj, Jae Millz....wait thats WHOLE DAMN LABEL!! So can Wayne really be Drakes claim to fame? Drake doesn't have an album yet, or even a release date, but he's taken full advantage of the net and done 3 mixtapes, countless tracks and freestyles to keep his name out there.

And Drake isn't the only one that created a buzz out of nothing. Wale has DC poppin now after dropping many a mixtape and his Nike Boots track gettin picked up. He's got his new single out Chillin (which is hot don't sleep). Kid Cudi got it poppin on the net with his music and was able to get his track remixed which led to play on radio stations that would normally never play it, forcing hip hop stations to play it as well. One new guy I think everyone should learn about is Big Sean. Kanye signed him to GOOD music after Sean used his connections at a Detroit station to get in when Ye was there for an interview. Sean freestyled for Ye, and it was history after that. Mike Posner has created buzz among colleges for his album on iTunesU that was number 1 for awhile. I definitely recommend downloading it.


Ok enough ranting. Point of it all is artists have to find new lanes these days. Don't expect to drop a ton of mixtapes, create a street buzz and the A&Rs will come knocking. Find a new path. Find a way to stand out. Stop fitting in a mold. Make a new mold.

Better late than never

Sorry for the late post...had a late night. Patron will do that to you. X-Men Origins Wolverine opens up today. And I will go see it...just not thi weekend with the mobs. So today I wanted to post the new Transfomer 2 trailer. I'm a huge fan and can't wait until it comes out. Someone told me it got pushed back until June, hopefully thats not the case. Enjoy.
