I'd like a T Alex

Going to try something new. Thursdays will be "Top Ten Thursdays". I'll be posting various Top Ten Things. LIke today will be the Top Ten Things I hate right now. Here we go...

10.) The Miami Heat. I'm a Heat fan but the loss last night is killing me. It's going to game 7, I'm sure of it. And the Heat will let me down.

9.) Baseball season has started. Which means basketball season is over and football season is far off.

8.) Stanley Cup is going on... gets in the way of good highlights on Sportscenter.

7.) The fact that the iPhone 3.0 update has yet to come out. I want MMS on my phone already like the rest of the world.

6.) The Atlanta Hawks...accordingly with hating my Heat, I hate the Hawks. Who the hell is a Josh Smith anyway?

5.) John Salmons non defense playing azz on the Bulls. Please don't let him stick Paul Pierce. Does no one else realize he cant?

4.) All the random robots that start following you on twitter after you post something random. Yes I posted about TV but I don't need @mountyourtvfree following me for it.

3.) Meet The Paynes... I really don't understand how this show is still on TV. WHO WATCHES IT?

2.) The unexplainable suicide of Kal Penn on House. The writers could have figured something better out with his fast departure from the show to go work for the Prez.

1.) I HATE THE WINDOW ON FACEBOOK that keeps tellin me what my friends became fans of. I don't know who the hell becomes a fan of weekends, tattoos, and cheddar biscuits from red lobster. I don't care to know which of my friends did that. PLEASE STOP SHOWING IT TO ME.

Feel free to comment on any of these or add your own things you hate right now.

This is treacherous

In the last week or so video has surfaced of Dame Dash going off on some workers at Def Jam. Apparently this was when Jay was gearing up to drop the Black Album and Def Jam decided to have a meeting without telling Dame, which I guess was a no no. Its ignorance at its best. Please focus on Dame's use of the word treacherous and the reactions (or lack there of) by the staffers. Also Dame goes in (pause) on Kevin Liles like Liles is just some plain ol intern. Man, do I miss the days of Rocafella.

Life imitates art

Bringing you a video not necessarily for the rappers but for the art. This is the video for Team Blackout's new song Gotta Have Her. Premise of the video is the chick the guys want is an artist and eventually the end up at an art studio where she reveals the painting. Now the painting was done by my Frat Brother, Jean Pierre, aka Vizual Poetry. He's an artist you HAVE to know out in DC right now and he's done a lot of shows with hip hop artists. Just wanted to spread the word on his art because he is beyond talented. check him out at charles jean pierre You can see Charles in the video at the 2:42 mark. Peep the Barack painting in the background throughout the vid.

My blog is amazing (yes I know)

we got the new video for Yeezy's Amazing off of 808 and Heartbreaks. Check it out

Tell me have you seen her seen her

If you check my post a few days ago you will my post of the Asher Roth video for Lark In My Go Cart, his ode to Lark Voorhies. For you young folks Lark played Lisa Turtle on the show Saved By The Bell (if you don't know what Saved By The Bell is, google it, then shoot yourself for having missed that era of quality TV). Asher's song made me wonder, where is Lark. She had a stint on that LL Cool J show, In The House (if you don't know that show just stab yourself too). She also popped up in the movie How High. With that said, I am putting out an A.P.B. for Lark Voorhies. Any info leading to her revival will be eligible for reward. Please see the photos below and keep an eye out for her. And let me know if theres a ring on that finger...she should still be getting Saved By The Bell big cell phone money like Zack had, right?

Lemme buy you a drank..and some hand sanitizer

This was a random observation this weekend. Most of us hit the club and at some point have to hit the restroom. Only human after you pour all that devil juice into your system. A lot of the more upscale bars and clubs have bathroom attendants. I noticed a not so cool trend this weekend. The spots I was at with no attendants, dudes washed their hands. The spots with attendants dudes DIDN'T wash their hands. I think mostly because they didn't want to drop a dollar to the attendant to help him out, but I could be wrong. Personally if I got cash I try to make sure I help the attendant out.

I just wanted to make all my female readers out there aware because that same dude that brought you that drink or shook your hand, may not have washed said hand.

ENJOY!

The Great White Hope(s)

It's Friday and my last day of my hope series and today we go with 2 rappers who are very different and very similar, and will unfortunately continue to get alot of comparisons when they shouldn't...but whatever

In one corner we have the young and new white hope, ding ding ding....Asher Roth. In the other corner, one of the most underrated (my opinion) and top battlers and career enders of all time, Eminem

Asher Roth dropped his first official album this past week on 4-20. I personally haven't picked it up but I've heard a majority of the tracks and think it will be a solid album. He's getting out shined a little bit right now in the news because of Officer Ricky's album that dropped the day after but what can you do. The media likes big fat guys these days. Now Eminem has just released his video for the 2nd single from this Relapse album, entitled "We Made You". Typical Eminem video

Now personally, I can see the similarities in the two guys in terms of creative lines and punchlines, and to me thats where the similarities stop. Asher is still young and developing where Em is a vet in the game. Asher consistently uses funny metaphors and spits funny rhymes to keep his listeners entertained. And they're quality lines. Now Em on the other hand only does that so the label can get a song on the radio. Anyone thats every bought an Em album knows that his tracks are very emotional and personal and to me thats what always stood out. Unfortunately what will happen is this young generation of souljaboytellem loving fans (the same ones who barely know who Jadakiss is) will probably try to crown Asher over Em. Thats going to be a bad move for Asher as Em will be forced to reclaim his whiteboy crown. How it all plays out we will see. In the meantime I posted Em's newest leaked track, 3.A.M. and Asher Roths latest track, Lark On My Go Kart (which makes me question where is Lark Voorhies these days).

Enjoy

The Future

Going with the new hope theme, I decided today to just profile some websites that bring me hope and motivated that our generation is going in the right direction. I know most of the folk that run these sites personally and they inspire me to keep going.

Rico Explains It All
My boy brings a real unique perspective to the real world

Stoopidfreshmind
My homegirl N.Harlem provides a blog thats funny yet insightful about how females see the world

20 Something Renaissance
My lil sister is one of the realest writers/journalists/poets I know and her site is her real life stories that alot of us can relate to

DJ Third Degree
My boy DJ Third Degree is holding it down in the Chi these days. You can catch him at hot spots such as MIX and Vain, as well as any other ENVE Group event. Check him out when you can and check his blog for his mixes and a lot of other good entertainment

Thank God I'm Famous
This site is run by a former exec from Atlantic and I've followed his blog and his sites for awhile now. Now it had a lot of music and entertainment related goodness. I definitely recommend the post "From Gents to Gs"

Change of pace

Getting away from the hip hop for a day to bring you someone else I'm onto right now. Today I bring you Melanie Fiona. I actually met her briefly a few weeks ago at the Kid Cudi meet and greet (shoutout to my homegirl from a certain mag that took me). Melanie was mad cool to talk to and hyped to be signed. I've heard a few of her songs and I like what I hear. Plus shes not too hard on the eyes. I might add her to the crush list soon. Can it be a crush if you actually met the person? Whatever. Check out her cover of Yeezy's heartless from a few weeks ago and a few other tracks. check her on twitter too www.twitter.com/melaniefiona

All on his shoulders

New day, new hope. By now, the world has caught on onto Drizzy, aka Drake Rogers aka probably Lil Wayne's best artist. (If you havent that means 1 you dont read my blog because I posted his mixtape and 2 you are a lame. Sorry for ya. )Now I like the dude. I've talked to some folks and they say the only reason he's getting pumped up is because he's down with Weezy. Well, aint that how it starts? The LOX were down with Biggy. Beanie was down with Jay. And etc. Thats how you got to come up (pause). Anyway, some are putting alot on this kid. Now here's my question to the masses...his mixtapes are hits. His internet status is up. What happens if he drops an album and it flops? Do we revert to the "oh its the labels fault" or is he just another lost hope for the masses? Personally I would blame the label. The guy has done everything right to create a buzz. He's smart. He's marketable. And frankly, if you're in with Wayne right now you're doing well for yourself.

I open the floor to comments...if Drake flops, what happens? Who do we blame? And do we begin to doubt his credibility and skill?

Here goes my favorite Drake/Weezy track for your enjoyment

Come on put your hands up...naw stop that

Unless you have been under a ROC we all know that Jadakiss sold 134,000 units last week in his first week. Now for the former shiny suit superstar it might not seem like a lot, but that is impressive on multiple fronts and heres why.

1)its a recession, who even buys music in a recession

2)we haven't seen any REAL hip hop artist move units like that in a LONG time..I dont even know if American Gangster or Hip Hop Is Dead moved that many in the first week

3)and here's the biggest reason its a big deal...the majority of so called hip hop fans don't even KNOW who KISS is? The teen boppers who shoulda lean, crank dat, and stanky leg all over the place probably weren't even allowed to listen to the radio when the guy with the funny laugh from YO was tearing it up with the Double R (they also don't know who the Double R is)

For this I say big up to Kiss (insert trademark Kiss laugh here). He's giving hope to the hopeful in hip hop. If you haven't got the album yet, go out and get it so the numbers keep going up. Maybe then labels will get away from this ring tone and dance craze.

Here goes some of my favorite Jada videos

Ultimate Challenge

For those that don't know I am in currently in the greatest state, Florida.  Warm weather, beautiful women, fast cars.  The last 2 nights I have hit the bars/clubs and have determined that one of  the ultimate challenge as a guy comes in 2 forms....1)getting the number/taking home the attractive bartender and 2)getting the number/taking home the attractive waitress.  As a guy, these have to be 2 of the greatest challenges.  For one, the bartender/waitresses of the world talk to hundreds of guys a day.  So at any point someone is trying to get them I presumed.  I was disturbed to talk to one waitress tonight and ask her  how many guys hollar at her on a regular  She was a 8.2/10 to me and she responded 5 was her average.  And all 5 were drunk guys who had to make extra effort to stop her on her busiest nights.  5 was a low number, but in retrospect the bar wasn't as popular as the rest in the area.  Whether I got at her is neither here nor there, but I had to wonder none the less, was I just one of those typical guys that would hollar at my waitress, or do I understand the boundaries society has put on us.

So to everyone out there, I ask, is this an ultimate challenge...to get the chick who every guy sees that weekend at the bar/club anytime he goes there.

While you ponder I give you the video that epitomizes this question....T-Pains Bartender

Take A Bow...

So, apparently Bow Wow is retiring. I know I know, who cares. Personally, I started to like some (KEY WORD SOME) of his tracks lately. But it was bound to happen. He was getting too old to just keep making songs for his fanbase of little girls (who are old themselves now) and he was never hood enough to cross over to mainstream adult rap music. Some will say oh he retired because his album flopped. 18,000 album sales for anyone will get you DROPPED from a label. Point blank. Personally I think his swagger role model/ghostwriter being gone for 366 days is really what caused this.

I would post the video of his interview annoucing it but i guess its been pulled already from youtube.

Darn :-/ Even youtube doesn't want to give him any respect
